大乘高僧

介绍

Apart from the monks featured at the Eminent Sangha museum, there were several distinguished monks that came from China and later settled down here in Singapore, which include Ven. Hong Chuan, Ven. Yan Pei, Ven. Chang Kai and Ven. Guang Qia.

These eminent monks not only had exceptional accomplishments in Buddhist studies but went beyond their studies to further commit to the propagation of the Dharma, and some embarked on monastic establishments. Actively engaging in various social services and works of charity, the eminent monks did all they could to help the poor and underprivileged; shaping immense contributions that constitute one touching story after another. So evident and unforgettable is the humble spirit of serving others, that even government officials provided recognition for their exemplary acts with award medals.

Ven. Hong Choon, for instance, was conferred the honorific title of "Chief Elder of the Chinese Monks" by the King of Thailand. Ven. Yan Pei, Ven. Chang Kai and Ven. Guang Qia were all honoured with the Singaporean national title of (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) PBM.
