Overseas CSR Effort
CSR @ Myanmar DRMMS
In 2018 Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, together with GPBT and MWA, organized a series of CSR activities at Dhamma Rock Mountain Monastery School in Taunggyi, Myanmar. Taunggyi is the capital city of the mountainous Shan State in Myanmar.
It is a city with an elevation of 1400m.
The objective of this project is to provide resources and infrastructures for the underprivileged children and orphans there to ensure that they would have an opportunity to go through proper and holistic education.
Therefore, we constructed 2 school buildings and set up a computer classroom with ancillary support. By imparting them with adequate computer skills and English proficiency, they can have a chance to work in MWA as a nursing staff, which many of the senior students have expressed interest in.
As the temperature in the mountains can be very cold, we distributed blankets and floor mats to the students there. We also donated and distributed essentials such as toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, soap, food, stationery, windbreakers, etc, to the approximately 1200 students there. With the completion of the 2 new school buildings, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple staff also painted wall murals for the students on the new buildings.
This meaningful project spanned 2 years from March 2018 to June 2019. The opening ceremony of the 2 school buildings was held in June 2019 with the GOHs being the Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs, Chief Minister Shan State, and Singapore's Ambassador to Myanmar.
