Xinglong Pagoda (Yanzhou, Shandong, China)

During the Sui Dynasty (581 - 618 AD), Pule Temple (or Xinglong Temple, or Longxing Temple) was established. In 1063 AD of the Northern Song Dynasty, it was rebuilt to house sariras and other sacred relics. According to a stone tablet, Fazang monk (from Kingdom of Yutian) went to the west in 970 AD and acquired Buddha statue, sariras and Bodhi tree. A pagoda was built to bury these relics.

In September 2008, the project to reinforce and renovate the pagoda unearthed the Sacred Skull Bone and sariras. These are now housed in the adjacent museum.

At the invitation of the Mayor of Yanzhou, Ven Shi FaZhao visited Xinglong Pagoda on 10 April 2009 to view and venerate the Sacred Skull Bone and Relics.
